PRODUCT UPDATE

  1. Product update - Firefox 130

Desktop:

  • Translations: We’ve expanded our language options, adding Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, and Vietnamese. In addition to that, we now allows translating selected text portions to different languages after a full-page translation.
  • Firefox Labs: Firefox now offers an easy way to try experimental features with a new Firefox Labs page in Settings.
  • New Tab Content: We’ve created a new article and updated the in-product link within the new tab window. Now, instead of focusing solely on Pocket recommendations, the content now includes all features and content available in the new tab experience. It also explains why users are seeing recommended stories and how to personalize or remove this experience.
  • PDF Alt Text Tool: We’ve created a new article focusing on the AI PDF Alt Text Tool. With the growing number of features in our built-in PDF viewer, we also decided to split the previous PDF article into three distinct articles to make navigation and information retrieval easier for users:
  • Windows Error Popup: A new article has been published to assist users with the “incomplete/corrupt” installation error on Windows. This will provide clear guidance on troubleshooting steps and help reduce user frustration. It will also serve as a way to direct users to the Bugzilla engineers are using to gather more info about this issue

Android:

  • Password Generator: Android users can now enjoy a more seamless experience with the added ability to generate secure passwords directly from their devices. We’ve created a new article to document this feature.

Additional stuff on desktop: (coming on Sept 10)

  • Fakespot In Suggest - Bugzilla (US Only)

Fakespot will appear in Suggest when users enter product-related queries. Fakespot results will appear when users query for products like “best 55 inch led tv” or "apple airpods". Fakespot results will only be A or B rated products with 3.5 adjusted star ratings that have had an analysis review within the last 30 days. We will differentiate vendors' websites using that vendor’s favicon icon instead of using a given product’s image.
